The PlasticsFatE project partners are happy to announce the release of our latest newsletter! Packed with updates, insights, and ground-breaking developments, this edition highlights the advances we’ve made in understanding and addressing the effects of micro and nanoplastics (MNPs) on human health.

Here’s a taster of what’s inside:

Shaping Policy for a Plastic-Free Future

This year, we released our first policy brief, "Harmonization and Standardization in Plastic Exposure and Hazard Assessment." This pivotal document sets the foundation for standardized approaches to assessing the risks of plastic exposure, enabling better-informed policy decisions.

Authored by PlasticsFatE experts Bernd Giese and Lasse Steffens from BOKU, Austria, this brief represents over three years of dedicated research and collaboration with global stakeholders.

Taking the Fight Against Plastics to a Global Stage

PlasticsFatE played a key role at the 5th round of negotiations (INC-5) for the UN Global Plastics Treaty in Busan, South Korea. Our ecotoxicologist, Dr. Dana Kühnel, contributed to these critical discussions as part of the Scientists’ Coalition for an Effective Plastics Treaty.

Find out more about how these negotiations aim to drive transformative global policies.
